Shannon McCollum is an Atlanta-based photographer and creative who has been embedded in the city’s hip-hop and cultural landscape since the 1990s. Raised by a newspaper photojournalist, he developed an early foundation in documentary storytelling — a perspective that shaped his approach to capturing artists with authenticity and intention.

Over the decades, Shannon has photographed some of Atlanta’s most influential voices, including Ludacris, T.I., OutKast, and Future, documenting the culture as it evolved into a global force.

Beyond his work behind the camera, Shannon is also known as the father of Lil Yachty (Miles McCollum), having played a hands-on role in exposing him to music, fashion, and creative spaces from an early age.

At Night School, Shannon brings decades of real-world experience, professionalism, and cultural insight — teaching photographers not just how to shoot, but how to build careers with intention and longevity.
